Common Questions

Common Questions

Why do volunteers take pictures of yoga classes?
Volunteers at our Yoga In The Park classes may take photos during practice. A picture is worth a thousand words, and this is a great way to help us spread the word about what we are doing. We do use these photos in social media and on our website. These can also be used to show the scope of what we are doing when asking for support from cities, supporters, and grantors.

What should I bring to class?
We recommend that you bring a mat and a bottle of water. You may also consider bringing items that help modify your practice, such as a block, a blanket, straps… ect. Many of the YMU classes are outdoor classes, so consider bringing sunscreen and/or bug spray.

Is yoga safe for my body?
While our teachers and assistants are very knowledgeable, safety starts with you! Please remember to take care of yourself! We strongly recommend that you get professional medical advice before you perform any techniques, poses, postures or routines presented in any of our classes. Remember, our teachers are leading a group class and providing you with recommendations, but it is up to you to listen to your body and modify as needed to fit your physical fitness level or to accommodate any injuries.
